Jewellery Designer Spotlight // Cabinet Studios

One of the industry's up and coming names, we wanted to find out a little more about designer Gemma Critchley, the incredible talent behind Cabinet Studios Jewellery. With a strong focus on 'on trend' colour palettes, combined with rich use of dazzling Swarovksi crystals coupled with sumptuous golds and silvers, Cabinet are able to delivery designer jewellery pieces that are timeless and elegant, with a fun and contemporary twist.  A combination of delicate Englishness with exotic bohemia as Critchley describes it.  In a bid to find out what makes this incredible statement jewellery design talent tick, we sent a few questions her way.

Where do you draw inspiration from for your designs? Our jewellery continually evolves.  We march to our own beat exploring new materials and textures.  For me this has been a natural evolution to my lifelong affinity for collecting and curating. Spending much of my childhood in the west indies where my parents lived for nearly 20 years, I was always fascinated with the continually changing life and colour below the surface of the areas crystal clear rock pools.

Our name came about naturally too… it’s from the countless hours that I spend unearthing forgotten treasures in curiosity filled cabinets that I always seem to stumble upon while sourcing in antique shops, flea markets and reclamation yards.

Our Somerset studio encapsulates our brand, filled with all of the wonderful old and eclectic pieces that inspire each new collection.  White –wash sofas sit atop monochrome checker woven rugs, antique spectacles and tone on tone flower bouquets bring table tops to life, Edward Lear illustrations, mood boards and enormous antler coat stand adorn the walls. A carefully collected  archive of inspiration and curiosities.

Our beautiful jewellery collections are completely hand crafted in the UK.   We love what we do and are continually inspired by the skilled crafts people who we have met along the way.

What does the future hold for Cabinet Studios?
Cabinets collections have already featured in numerous publications, including Vogue, Tatler , Elle the Telegraph and many more.  Our aim is to keep developing exciting original pieces that reflect our inspirations, challenge our boundaries and reflect our client’s unique styles.
